Crime Stoppers will be teaming up with the Rochester RazorSharks and the Democrat and Chronicle to raffle off a basketball signed by the team at several Saturday home games. The raffle tickets are free and will be handed out in the lobby before the game and during the first half. This is to promote the new SAFETIP program. Free magnets with SAFTIP information will also be available. We hope to see you at the games on February 27 and March 27.

On Tuesday, December 8, 2009, Monroe County Supervisor Maggie Brooks announced that the SAFETIP program is now operational. The county has provided funds to acquire a software subscription that will allow operators at the 311 Center to receive anonymous tips in the form of text messages. The tipsters will be able to have an anonymous two way text conversation with law enforcement and could be rewarded up to $5,000 by Crime Stoppers. The messages go through a computer center in Canada that removes the cellphone numbers of both parties. Just text the keyword SAFETIP and your tip to 274637(CRIMES on a 12 key keyboard)
